Summary This report contains key drivers and trends that are expected to influence both the MSC and other weather and climate monitoring networks in Canada. Drivers and trends have been selected that have a current impact on network operators, but also will continue to evolve in the future. A breakdown of the surface weather and climate monitoring networks across each province and territory are highlighted, including information on each network such as station counts, element-level analysis, operation periods, and level of automation. Feedback has also been gathered through CWAC discussions to report on common collaboration and operational challenges faced within each monitoring jurisdiction across the country. A station density analysis was also conducted by ECCC for each province and territory to identify coverage gaps.
