(NHC) was retained by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) Department of Environment and Climate Change to update the flood hazard maps for the hamlet of Aklavik.The intended use of these flood hazard maps is for community infrastructure planning and other flood mitigation measures, and emergency preparedness. This report provides the results of the flood hazard mapping study for Aklavik and includes the following: a summary of the available data; ice-affected flood history and hydrology; hydraulic modelling; and the development of flood hazard maps. Potential impacts of climate change are also discussed. |
