Summary The book is divided into eight sections, each of which seeks to address a different facet of change in the Arctic, whilst also maintaining the interdisciplinary dynamic achieved during the 2009 UNESCO meeting in Monaco from which the book originates. This is no small challenge, as is demonstrated by the wealth of views, perspectives and approaches offered by the authors. However, it is only through this spirit of interdisciplinary collaboration, and its effective practice, that the challenges of climate change and sustainable development will eventually be met. The sections of the book therefore address distinct themes, while harbouring numerous points of convergence. The book’s eight sections are as follows: -Ice, Oceans and Atmosphere; -Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services -Community-Level Impacts and Adaptation; -Health and Well-Being; -Economic Development and Social Transformations; -Education; -Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability; -Monitoring Systems.
Local Relevance This book discusses eight themes of climate change in the Arctic, all of which are relevant to the experiences of residents of the NWT.us perspective.
