Summary | GNWT structures relying on permafrost foundations are at risk from both loss of permafrost and inadequate drainage due to increases in precipitation which could result in accelerated decay. As a result, a full scale investigation is required to investigate all wooden pile foundations for Beaufort Delta and Sahtu buildings to determine remedial work which may include the change of foundation type. Due to these concerns, pile assessment were completed for nine GNWT assets. The reports here detail the findings of those assessments. |
Local Relevance | Due to concerns that thawing permafrost and increased precipitation may jeopardize structural foundations of GNWT buildings and other assets, a series of pile (foundation) assessments and associated reports was completed for GNWT assets in the Beaufort Delta and Sahtu regions of the NWT. |
